The screening of ‘Wolf Creek 2′ at the Venice Film Festival went off with a bang last night, according to director Greg Mclean, with spontaneous applause at several pivotal action moments. Sparkling reviews from industry bibles Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are in already, both mentioning my cinematography:
“…Production values are uniformly topnotch, reaping the benefits of what appears to be a considerably expanded budget: McLean can now afford 18-wheeler trucks barreling down hillsides in his chase sequences, and isn’t afraid to use them. Toby Oliver’s slick widescreen lensing delights in the warm coloring of Outback brushwood and human entrails alike…” – Guy Lodge, Variety
“…And to think that Jarratt’s unfaltering performance as the 100 percent evil Mick Taylor begs to be mythicized, as he stands with his high-caliber rifle outlined against the red desert sunset, or rides horseback through the wilderness, exalted by DP Toby Oliver’s vibrant Western cinematography…. highly atmospheric cinematography that makes the wide-open landscape a major player….” - Deborah Young, The Hollywood Reporter
The movie will have general theatrical release early 2014. More news and dates to come.
